about
"antiquity" is about someone who was just there, like lukewarm coffee still in the pot, an unmade bed, the seat of the sofa sunken in. You are left feeling cold and disoriented, facing remnants of the recent past.
This state generates a feeling of helplessness. You were caught up in them always being there, adapting to some routine that now ceases. Independence is foreign, you can only revert back to forgotten, sometimes immature habits that were established the last time you were on your own.
I ask myself what that will be like now when it isn’t a breakup? When it isn’t toxic? This person is still here but just not close. I want his touch but can’t obtain it. The bed will always be left freshly slept in.
lyrics
One foot in front of the other
Dug my own damn grave
Missing most of you
Not like those things can change
And heartbreak's not supposed to last for good
Or so they say
But that doesn't seem to stop me from feeling
The same way
And it's hard to
Conceptualize anything when I don't even know what I look like
And I want to
Be the person to sweep you off your feet
But I can't
That's not me
Though I wish it was
Wish I could stop picking myself apart
Don't know why I started in the first place
And why's it so fucking hot in October
Other places seem to be much colder
At least for now
But not for long
And it's hard to
Concern myself with anything when there's so much to be dealt with
And I want to
Be the person to fix everything
But I can't
That's not me
Though I wish it was
I wish it was
Seriously, I wish it was
I wish it was
